Joye Law Firm Scholarship Programs
Joye in the Community by Joye Law Firm
Joye Law Firm Annual Scholarships
Each spring, Joye Law Firm awards five graduating seniors from area high schools with $2,000 scholarships to assist them with college expenses. Selection of the recipients is based on school activities, positions of leadership, special honors and awards, community involvement, academic performance, and academic and professional pursuits. Each candidate also writes an essay about underage drinking and driving prevention. Recipients are personally presented with their awards, followed by a dinner hosted by Joye Law Firm. Since 2006, the firm has provided $50,000 in scholarships.

Joye Law Firm's managing partner, Ken Harrell, started this annual scholarship program, which is named after Mr. Harrell’s grandparents, to recognize graduates of his alma mater, Sussex Central High School in Sussex, Virginia. Each year, a graduating senior receives a $5,000 scholarship to assist with college expenses.
“I started the scholarship because the county has a large agricultural industry, and local scholarship opportunities are limited,” said Harrell, who graduated from the high school in 1981. “I want to help recognize students who are committed to making a positive difference and achieving academic excellence.”
