Sixth Annual Shoot Three and Win Challenge
December 28 – 30, 2009

University of South Carolina student Kevin Fletcher won the $1,000 grand prize during the firm’s sixth annual Shoot Three and Win Challenge, which was held in conjunction with the 17th Annual Piggly Wiggly Roundball Classic. The final night of the tournament proved to be exciting, as the last two participants went four rounds until Fletcher’s opponent missed a free throw. Proceeds raised during the basketball challenge benefited the North Charleston Rotary Club’s scholarship program and Communities in Schools.

Paws In The Park

Joye Law Firm was proud to be the expo sponsor for the Charleston Animal Society’s Paws in the Park and Walk for the Animals event at Park Circle in North Charleston. The event featured a walk fundraiser, games, food, live music, and activities for pets and families—including pet contests for sloppiest kisser, best tail wagger, and best costume. In addition to raising more than $36,000, the event resulted in 13 dogs and puppies finding new and loving homes.

Habitat for Humanity Charity Golf Tournament

On September 12, four firm members golfed to benefit the Habitat for Humanity of Horry County, which raised more than $18,000. The tournament is the organization’s biggest fundraiser of the year and was held at the Myrtle Beach National Golf Club.
Charleston Habitat for Humanity Ceremony

Members of Joye Law Firm presented Charleston Habitat for Humanity with the proceeds raised from the firm’s garage sale, which totaled $1,700.
"It was a nice ceremony, and it was rewarding to meet the homeowner and her grandson," said firm member Erin Rojas, who attended the event. "Habitat rehabilitated the house to be more handicap-accessible for her grandson, who has cerebral palsy."

Joye Law Firm had a firm-wide garage sale to benefit Charleston Habitat for Humanity. The sale was held in the firm’s parking lot and included items ranging from kitchen items and sporting goods to electronics and furniture. Joye Law Firm's fifth annual "Shoot Three and Win Basketball Challenge" challenge, which benefitted the North Charleston Rotary Club's scholarship program and Communities in Schools, was held in conjunction with the Piggly Wiggly Roundball Classic and allowed participants the chance to win $50, $200, or $1,000. The firm paid all of the contest participants' winnings, with the total payout exceeding more than $3,000 this year. In total, the tournament and the contest raised approximately $45,000 for the two charities. Robert Howard, 15, of Walterboro won the $1,000 grand prize after hitting four consecutive free throws as part of a shoot-out format. Click here to learn more.

Recycling Program to Benefit Children with Burn Injuries
Summer 2007
The members of Joye Law Firm began recycling their aluminum soft drink cans to raise money for the Burned Children's Fund at the Medical University of South Carolina Children's Hospital. The proceeds will help pay for the physical and emotional recoveries of pediatric burn patients, including rehabilitation equipment, image enhancement programs, and items such as school re-entry programs, wigs, make-up, and special clothing. The funds from the recycling program are used for other purposes, including burn education and prevention programs and a special annual camp for burned children called "Camp Can Do."
